Explore Orkney Holidays
Welcome to 5,000 years of island history. Start any day and stay as long as you like!

Information on accommodation available on this holiday.

The ring of Brodgar standing stones - stimulating, exhilarating, a wonderful place - a real connection with the people who built them.

Orkney, an archipelago of seventy islands just seven miles off the north coast of Scotland, will seduce you with its ever-changing seascapes, fresh, clean air and intriguing stories of times past.

Probably best known for its astonishing array of well preserved Neolithic sites and standing stones, Orkney will rejuvenate you with its wonderful environment, fascinating wildlife, great walks, craft workshops, excellent museums and its unhurried pace of life.

We suggest at least 3 or 4 nights to discover the many wonders, including day trips to some of the smaller isles such as Hoy, Westray or Rousay - 'the Egypt of the North' (tours available). Orkney is a compact island so you can spend your holiday in one place.

Sail any day from Scrabster in northern Scotland on-board the NorthLink cruise ferry at 13.15/12.00 or 19.00, also 08.45 most days, arriving in Stromness in Orkney in only 90 minutes. On your day of departure you sail from Stromness at 11.00/09.00 or 16.45.

Your holiday choices include
3 or more nights accommodation. Return ferry crossings with own car between Scrabster and Stromness. Based on two sharing car & en-suite twin/double bedroom, price per person:

Orkney

Orkney is famous for its well preserved Neolithic monuments including the World Heritage sites of Skara Brae, Maes Howe tomb & burial chamber and the Standing Stones of Stenness and Ring of Brodgar sites.

Historic Scotland, who maintain many of the historic monuments in Orkney, offer a combined 'Orkney Ticket' which allows entry to these and other sites - your key to unlocking thousands of years of history! This can be purchased at your first Historic Scotland attraction.
